Act V is the resolution of the play. Why is it significant that William Shakespeare ends the play with Octavius speaking? What are your final comments regarding the play's conclusion? Did the characters listed below get what they "deserved"?
- Caesar
- Brutus
- Cassius
- Antony
- Octavius
- Portia
The significance of OCtavious ending the play was so Shakespeare could show Octavious's power. I thought that the end of the play was not a very happy ending, but thats why Julius Caesar is a tradgedy. Although Caesar was arrogant, i dont think he desearved to die for that one chacteristic, especially to be betrayed by who he thought were his best friends. Brutus also didnt get what he desearved because although he made a horrible mistake, he shouldnt have killed himself over it, especially because he realized and regretted what he did to Caesar. Cassius definatly got what he desearved cause he had bad intentions the whole play anyway, and was all around a horrible guy. Antony also got what he desearved. Octavious, although part of the triumverant, got what he desarved by now having the power, which hopefully he can handle. Portia did not desearve eating fire. SHe couldve just sucked it up and waited for her husband brutus, to come home, but thought that the only way to fix things was to end her life, which i dont believe was the right way for her to go.
ReplyDeleteIts signifgant bc he is the one with the power.
ReplyDeleteHow does octavius come from out of nowhere until act 4 and get all the power?
Caeser got what he deserved bc he was to eregant.
Brutus did not get what he deserved bc he had best intrest in the bettering of rome.
Cassius got what he deserved bc he wanted to kill someone and he did so he does not deserve anything.
Antony did not get what he deserved bc he was in it for his own benifit not Rome's beninfit.
Octavius... Im not sure if he got what he deserved bc he just joins Antony and takes power.
Portia did not get what she deserved bc Brutus should have been with her more and make he feal less suisideal bc he was not there for her.

It was significant that Shakespeare ends the play with Octavius speaking because Octavius was Caesars' great nephew and heir to the throne. My final comments to this play is that i wish it would of ended with not a lot of death sadness. Caesar got what he deserved because he was a tyrant. Brutus did not deserve what he got because all he wanted to do was help his country. Cassius got what he deserved because he did what he did out of his own greed. Antony did not get what he deserved because he tricked everyone and stole from people. Octavius got what he deserved because he was the rightful heir to the throne. Finally, Portia did not deserve what she got because all she wanted to do was help her husband. Isaac Gutierrez
